She
recalls the response she received from ESTEEM's director when she
volunteered to research and apply for grants.?She was told,
"Sure, go ahead."?It was all the encouragement she
needed. By August of the following year, she had secured more than
$120,000 in funding for her agency's programs.
Over
the years, Bethany has achieved an average 70% grant win rate, with more
than $1.1 million in funding secured for five different organizations.
?Today at Quest,
Bethany manages a portfolio of more than 40 different funding sources,
granting nearly $1 million.?She finds special satisfaction in
working with her agency's various program managers, supporting their
efforts providing education, job training, job placement and independent
living experiences for people with disabilities.
?Helping her
agency's clients obtain useful work is the goal of Quest's most recent
undertaking.?With first-year funding of more than $300,000,
Project SEARCH provides on-the-job training in the healthcare and
hospitality fields to young adults with disabilities.?According to
Bethany, "It's a win-win program for our clients and for employers
such as Florida Hospital and Rosen Shingle Creek Hotel who are looking
for highly motivated employees."
Bethany has been a GPN
member for more than ten years, and assumes her new responsibilities as
treasurer with a strong desire to support her fellow GPN members and the
development of her profession.
