"Providing Hope.
. . Building Opportunity,"
that is the promise Catholic Charities of Central Florida has
made to our community for nearly 50 years. It is a promise
fulfilled by compassionate people who respond to our Central Florida
neighbors in need.

Operating
with an annual budget of $12
million, Catholic Charities serves approximately 130,000 people
each year. With services ranging from health clinics, to
housing, to refugee assistance, to emergency family
assistance, Catholic Charities relies heavily on grants to
fund its operations.

That's
where GPN members Jennifer Stephenson and Jaime Freidinger enter
the picture. "On
average, our department writes 80 proposals a year," says Jennifer.
"Currently, we have 30 active grants," continued
Jennifer.
With food
banks, clinics and shelters operated by Catholic Charities,
Jennifer and Jaime need a broad knowledge of federal,
state and local grants. Their work also requires extensive
collaboration with regional directors throughout the nine
Central Florida counties served by Catholic Charities.

The wide variety of services offered by Catholic Charities is a
reflection of its comprehensive focus on our community's needs.
It is a focus that "provides hope" to people
desperately needing to know someone cares, and "builds
opportunity" for people wanting to carry on with their
lives. It is a focus that results
in
dignity, respect and compassion for all people. |

The mission of Catholic Charities of Central Florida is to
"provide vital social services to people in need regardless
of their religion, social or economic background, and to improve
the lives of individuals, families and the
community." It is the kind of mission with which all
GPN members can identify. |
