"Each and every one of us is creating the
future every day." Quoting from the book, Pollyanna
Principles by Hildy Gottlieb, Dr. Mary Ann Feldheim challenged
attendees at the annual GPN Awards Breakfast to "become a positive
force in the community." Dr. Feldheim is the Chairperson of the Department of Public Administration at the University of Central Florida. In her keynote address, she remarked that GPN and its members have the potential to become a touch point for addressing social issues in our community. Working together with our many contacts, she stated that GPN members can create a vision of a more unified and healthy community. It is a similar vision of collaboration that is much in evidence throughout her department's many areas of academic research and study. It is also a vision carried forth by her department's graduates, some of whom are current GPN members. Dr. Feldheim's positive message was unambiguously clear: "We accomplish what we hold ourselves to." It is a message of what grant professionals are empowered to do for their clients, their organizations, and for people throughout their community. |
